The Science

PEMF Present Day Beginnings

In the early part of the 20th century there was great interest in electricity & electro-magnetic fields by doctors and researchers. The flexner report, funded by Carnegie & Rockefeller, changed the course of medical schools. Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Botanical Therapies and electro/electro-magnetic therapies were thrown out. Women were removed from medical schools. By 1934 a doctor could be jailed or loose their license if they did any of these therapies.

In the 1960s, American & Russian astronauts experienced health problems. Following years of research by Russian & American space programmes, the international space station uses PEMF to keep the astronauts healthy.

In Germany (1990), Dr Fischer invented Salut 1 which was arguably the first mat-based PEMF system. There were other PEMF systems going back as far as Nicola Tesla, but this was a true PEMF unit for home use. Several years later (1995), Wolfgang Jaksch (CEO of Swiss Bionic Solutions SBS) created a company with some of the original people dedicated to continually improving the technology using earth-based frequencies.

What is PEMF Therapy?

Pulsed Electro-Magnetic field distinctions

Pulsed Electromagnetic Waves are generated from copper coils. Magnets are not used!

SBS PEMF Therapy is the same as the Earth’s Magnetic Field in frequency and intensity (within the natural or biological window) we have lived in for millions of years.

Can’t feel it – maybe a slight tingle in a problem area or warmth due to increased circulation.

Not electrical like a TENS Machine, which used small electrical currents on the surface of the skin.

Magnetic waves penetrate completely through all cells and tissues unlike light or sound waves and electricity.

How is PEMF Therapy Applied?

  • PEMF Therapy gently pushes the earth’s natural magnetic field through the body
  • This introduces microcurrents on a cellular level to stimulate your own natural healing
  • 95% of people feel absolutely nothing, it’s safe with no significant side effects like drugs
  • A session takes approximately 50 minutes
  • You lie on a full body mat for 10 minutes then focus on specific areas of concern with smaller applications of PEMF
  • Magnetic waves penetrate every tissue on the body

How is PEMF Therapy Applied?

V’s

  • PEMF requires a shorter treatment period (10min vs hours)
  • PEMF induces currents that charge the cells voltage
  • Penetration depth of static magnet is limited, usually within 10mm. PEMF can easily penetrate the entire body

NASA PEMF 4 Year Study

The NASA PEMF study began in 2003 because astronauts suffered major loss in bone density and muscle deterioration in space.

The NASA study is a landmark in proving the efficiency and the stimulation of neural stem cells. The study looked at stimulating the regeneration of tissues with electromagnetic fields. It showed improvement by 204 to 4 times.

The NASA PEMF study on electromagnetic field therapy using low, natural frequencies showed no risks and potentially huge benefits. NASA concluded that PEMF is effective in the treatment of various diseases.

NASA PEMF 4 Year Study

  • 1979 – Healing of non-union bone fractures
  • 1998 – Urinary incontinence & muscle stimulation
  • 2004 – Cervical fusion patients at high risk of non-fusion
  • 2006 – Treatment of depression & anxiety
  • 2011 – Brain tumour (Novocure’s Optune)
  • 2015 – FDA upgrades PEMF classification from Class 3 to Class 2

Swiss Bionic Solutions

SBS is a Swiss based global company with offices in Switzerland, Germany, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore and opening in Australia soon.

SMS PEMF systems have been manufactured in Germany for over 26 years.

SBS has its own in-house research, engineering development and manufacturing divisions.
